Getting Here
We are located on the North West coast of Scotland about 70 miles west of the City of Inverness which has good transport links to the rest of the UK. Both properties are situated at the southern end of the village of Shieldaig - opposite the pier.
You need access to a car in order to travel around this remote area which has very limited public transport. Please note many of the local roads are single track.

Driving on single track roads
There are two routes to reach us by road from the south
Via Fort William
From Glasgow take the A82 up the side of Loch Lomond to Crianlarach, across Rannach Moor and down Glencoe to Fort William. Continue on the A82 (sign-posted Inverness) to Invergarry. Here turn Left onto the A87 towards Kyle of Lochalsh. Shortly after passing Eilean Donan Castle turn right onto the A890 to Lochcarron - this road is single track in places so drive with care. After crossing the railway line at Strathcarron you come to a T junction. Turn Left onto the A896. This takes you through Lochcarron village. Continue on this road to Shieldaig - again single track in places. As you approach Shieldaig you go over a cattle grid and the road forks - take the Left fork along the coast over another cattle grid. Pier House and The Cottage are on your Right opposite the pier.
The above route takes you through dramatic Highland scenery but can be quite slow if the roads are busy.
It will take about 5 hours to get here from Glasgow
Via Inverness
From the M74 follow signs for Stirling and then Perth. Pick up the A9 at Perth and keep on this road to Inverness. Do not go into the City Centre but keep on the by-pass following signs for Dingwall and Ullapool. Go over the Kessock Bridge. At the next large roundabout the A9 continues northwards and you need to take the second exit onto the A835 for Ullapool. Continue on this road - do not turn into Dingwall unless you need to get some shopping. You pass through Contin and Garve. Shortly after leaving Garve turn Left onto the A832 for Gairloch. At Achnasheen continue straight on at the roundabout. In the middle of Kinlochewe turn Left onto the A896. This takes you through Glen Torridon and is mostly single track road with passing places. Drive carefully. At Torridon follow the road to the Left - it now becomes two track all the way to Shieldaig. On reaching the Shieldaig sign it is easiest to continue on the upper road. As you come down the hill you will see a very sharp Right turning heading back into the village along the coast. Take this and Pier House and The Cottage are on your Right. Alternatively, particularly if you have a trailer, at the Shieldaig sign turn Right and take the lower road through the village. We are the last but one houses on your Left before you rejoin the main road.
The above route takes about 3.5 hours from Perth.
